When we were young, times were very different than they are now.  Whilst still at school Gordon had a Lambretta which he subsequently replaced with a more powerful motor bike.  At the time crash helmets were not a requirement and one day after school I was with Gordon as his pillion passenger and whilst driving through Deeplish we came to a slow stop in the centre of the road.  The engine was still running so I asked Gordon if there was a problem.  He replied “No there isn’t a problem I was going to turn right into the road back there but the brakes don’t work very well and I couldn’t slow down in time”.  We just laughed together, turned around and continued on our planned journey. -------- pretty carefree and fun loving!!
